Career guidence for testing-Domain change

Hi all,
I am 2008 passed out engineering graduate currently working in some s/w company as DBA (on contract)
and i have 1.6 yrs of experience in DB (but not complete DB activity).
Now I am looking for career in Testing since my experience and designation are different how can i switch to testing with same experience?will i get opportunities in testing without relevent experience?
Please give me your valuable guidence.

HI Saveetha,

     Yeah.. U can switch over to testing side.. No issues.. My suggestion is try to do some certifications in testing (lik ISTQB etc.) and then get some knowledge abt automation tools. Surely these things will help you to get good job in MNC... All the best.

    If you are interested in scripting means it ll be added advantage.  I think ur from DB na, Better you can switch over into DB testing as you are expert in DB.

Hi Savi,
You can use your experience for testing. Since DB testing is part of Testing, and you have experience and knowledge about DB i.e. injection, verification, updation, etc. you can use your experience while switching to testing. Just learn some basics about manual testing and testing techniques, so that you can easily switch to Testing domain.
