My answer is b)

Testing should provide the information for the stakeholders to make a more informed decision about the product going live or not.

As a test team we surely cannot know all the information required about a product launch.

Finally, remember that as a test team we can only comment on the observed defects, i.e. the lack of quality present in the product.

Hope this helps,

Steve.

Hello TheWiseTester,
I think the testing person be the one who is signing off the system for release. Apart from that here they are not mentioning the release date related option, it is purely about sign off the product for release. Then how option "b" will be the answer? Correct me if i am wrong.

Hiya Mayasen,

At a high level, as I see it, the Test Manager is responsible for making sure the testing is completed as per the plan and ensuring any defects identified are raised and retested accordingly.

I don't believe the Test Manager can make the decision of signing off the system for release because it may be possible that the Test Manager isn't aware of all the necessary information required for system sign off. For example what if there are additional Q.A. activities that need to happen that the Test Manager has no control over; Or what if the training department need time to access the system to write the training course?

It is possible that I may have misunderstood the word "release" - to be clear - I've assumed it meant "to move into production" in this question.

Hope this makes sense,

Let me know :)
