Hi,

Tracablity Matrix is our application is met all the requirements are not while testing. this is a verification document while all the testing done as per requirement or not.

This is maintained in a excel sheet. this is the mapping between the requirement ids and test scenrio ids.

This document is very useful while releasing in UAT.

Hi all,

First and foremost. There are 2 types of Tracebility matrix.
1. RTM (Requirement Tracebility Matrix)
2 . TM (Tracebility Matrix)

1. RTM is the one which is used in the early stage of Project initiation.Let me give you an instance.
There is a project ABC and its about to kick off. In the early stages the SME's and the BA's will have to travel onsite to get the Requirements. At that stage there is a Functional document which is prepared of the Version 1 by the BA's. Until the documents are freezed, the Document keeps on changing.
After the final document is received, the SME's or the BA's prepare a requirement tracibility matrix which gives the matrix of the changes from the initial and the final document.
I hope this is clear.....

2. Tracebility matrix is nothing but the Testing team member prepares this to match the Requirement of the final document with the Scenarios and the test cases he/she prepares.
I hope this clarifies....

Cheers...
Sarf

Yes. You are right.
Core of Traceability matrix is to make sure that all function are covered and all possible options/scenarios was traveled.
Eg: Checking the Password changing option.

Using traceability matrix you can ensure that all possible scenarios like
# Change/update from his own profile
# Can able to reset by the admin user
# Can be reset with the help of "Forgot Password" option
# Worse case scenario can reset from DB

All this scenario should be ensured with the help of traceability matrix....

A traceability matrix is a document, usually in the form of a table, that correlates any two baselined documents that require a many to many relationship to determine the completeness of the relationship. It is often used with high-level requirements (these often consist of marketing requirements) and detailed requirements of the software product to the matching parts of high-level design, detailed design, test plan, and test cases.Free Backup Software
